The Hidden Ridge

The Hidden Ridge began in 2017 when Collin and Stacy Bright dreamed about creating an oasis away from urban life where people could slow down and get back into nature. After a long search, the two stumbled upon a remarkable parcel of land in Nelson County, VA. For seven years, the two literally cut their way to the top of the parcel's abandoned quarry. They nestled the cottage, affectionately referred to as "Tiny," a mere 15 feet away from the quarry's ledge to maximize the stunning mountain views.

In 2024, the Brights were finally ready to welcome the world to the Hidden Ridge. Your lodging is a custom-built tiny house from Wind River Tiny Homes with luxurious interior features. A comfortable kitchen is stocked with high-end cookware for your culinary exploration. The bedroom features a queen-sized bed underneath a skylight where you can stare at the stars while snuggled under the covers. The bathroom features a rainfall shower with a large window out to the mountains to create a sense of showering outdoors. The wrap-around deck provides more space to stretch out and enjoy your peaceful surroundings. 

Outside of "Tiny", the property is yours to explore! Enjoy rugged hiking trails and find little alcoves and hidden treasures. Trek down to the three-acre pond to watch the wildlife and fish for large-mouth bass and bluegill. Looking for a river adventure? Hike down to the other side of the mountain and splash around in the 1500 feet of frontage on the Rockfish River. When water levels are high enough in spring, bring kayaks upriver and take a leisurely float back "home" over small yet exciting rapids. Your own private playground awaits!

For those who want to go farther afield, Nelson County and the surrounding area is home to a wide range of attractions. A short 30-minute drive will put you into Charlottesville where you can watch a UVA game or just enjoy the town. Numerous hikes and outdoor destinations are within 45 minutes including Natural Bridge, Crabtree Falls, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can even reach out to James River Runners to arrange for a tubing trip on the James. We are also lucky to have world-class breweries, wineries, and distilleries within a 30-minute drive. Our favorites include Devil's Backbone, Blue Mountain Brewery, Virginia Distillery Company, Afton Mountain Winery, and Brent Manor Winery to name a few. Live music and summer events are common across the County and we're happy to help you choose the best combo of activities to make your trip unforgettable.
